Cancer Services -Little Red Door Recognizes the important role that education plays in the prevention and early detection of cancer. Education materials have been distributed at several health fairs in the community and presentations have been made to various organizations. The following education programs are provided upon request: Smoke Free Heroes, an elementary school tobacco prevention program, incorporating the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) instructional concepts. This program is provided to any school or after school group upon request. Our breast and testicular health programs, BSE and TSE for Teens are programs that are designed to help high schools meet state requirements. This year, nearly 500 high school students in 5 schools participated in the program. “Reaching Out” Breast Health Program in its fourth year, is again fortunate to have received grants from the Avon  Foundation Breast Care Fund, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Indianapolis Affiliate and the Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust. This community partnership is committed to ensuring that no woman in Delaware County goes without breast health services. To-date nearly 1,000 uninsured and underinsured women have been reached with vital breast health education and free screenings. The Prostate Cancer Support Group meets monthly to provide education and support to men with prostate cancer and their families. New and long term members of the group comment on the benefit of the group in terms of allaying fears and learning new information. CSDC-Little Red Door continues to take an active role in the Tobacco Free Coalition of Delaware County. The agency shares in the vision of the coalition to promote a healthy, tobacco-free lifestyle. To that end, the agency sponsors tobacco cessation programs and participates in other activities of the coalition. Our Client Services Program helps to ensure that individuals and families dealing with a cancer diagnosis receive the equipment, supplies and support they need to maintain the highest quality of life possible during their experience. The Cancer Assistance Program (CAP) is a vital and appreciated service. The program provides financial assistance for cancer-related symptom management and/or pre-cancer determination procedures. Transportation assistance is provided in the form of gas vouchers, gas cards or public transportation so that the client can receive scheduled treatments. Our Equipment Loan and Supply Program promotes comfort and facilitates home care of our clients. A variety of equipment, linens and comfort items are available, as well as a selection of wigs and turbans. Mastectomy supplies are available for uninsured and underinsured clients.
