Education Cancer Assistance Program
Referral Services: We refer cancer patients or other persons to the proper agency for services we do not offer. i.e., paying of electrical bills, food pantry, rental.
Equipment Loan Program: Equipment is loaned with the recommendation of the physician or medical personnel. Hospital beds, walkers, wheelchairs, shower seats, bedside commodes, elevated toilet seats, and wedge pillows are available.
Nutritional Supplements: Nutritional supplements can be given to a client with a physician's approval. The approval must consist of a Rx specifying what type of drink is needed and how many cans per day the client must have. Drinks come in 3 flavors, vanilla, chocolate and strawberry.
Listening Ear & Support Groups: Support groups are offered at the Cancer Center at Ball Memorial Hospital and High Street United Methodist Church. For more information on when these groups meet, please contact theses agencies. Cancer Services of Delaware County-Little Red Door sponsors a monthly Prostate Support Group meetings for prostate cancer survivors and their partners. This group meets every 3rd Wednesday of the month, except for June and December. Contact the agency for more details.
Education: CSDCLRD has many educational and outreach programs through out the year. Some programs include

Breast Self Exam/Testicular Self Exam. We take or provide videos, literature and practice models to local area high schools to teach breast and testicular self exam in health education classes. | |

Reaching Out Breast Health Program, reaches out to women in Delaware County who may need information on Self Breast Exams and mammograms. | |

Participate in local area health fairs throughout the community, including schools. | |

We serve on the steering committee for the Muncie Black Expo Health Fair. | |

Offer smoking cessation classes three times a year in March, June and November. | |

Smoke Free Heroes, tobacco prevention program for elementary school students | |

Collaborate with Living Healthy, Tobacco Free Coalition of Delaware County, Mayors Advisory Committee for Health Education, and Delaware County Coalition for Human Services. |
Cancer Assistance Program (CAP): The Cancer Assistance Program is a special program designed to provide monetary assistance for cancer related symptom management medications and/or pre-cancer determination procedures. Those Eligible for CAP include:

Mammogram Referrals: We facilitate screening and diagnostic mammograms for uninsured or underinsured people, which are paid for through the Ball Memorial Breast Cancer Fund. "Reaching Out" Breast Health Program is a program funded by the Avon Foundation Breast Care Fund, the Indianapolis Affiliate of Susan G. Komen, Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust and Cancer Services of Delaware County-Little Red Door. "Reaching Out" is committed to ensuring that no woman in Delaware County goes without access to vital breast health services. Women receive breast health information, free Clinical Breast Exams and free mammogram referrals if they qualify. Participants attend programs located in various community and business settings or scheduled clinics at Cancer Services of Delaware County-Little Red Door. Volunteers: CSDC-Little Red Door does welcomes volunteers. There are many areas that volunteers can work in for our agency. For more information on becoming a volunteer please see the volunteer page.
Medical Supplies, Wigs & Breast Prostheses: Convenience items such as hospital gowns, bed linens, disposable bed pad, disinfectants are available upon request. A variety of surgical dressing are generally available in addition to gloves, tape and alcohol prep pads. Assistance with ostomy supplies can be given with a physician's approval. Comfort items such as bath in a bag, shampoo caps and lotion can be provided. Turbans, wigs, and scarves are maintained for loan to clients. Mastectomy supplies are available upon request for uninsured or underinsured clients. Mastectomy supplies include soft forms, sleep prostheses, prosthetic bras, breast prostheses and lymphedema pillows.
Transportation: Transportation assistance for cancer related medical visits are available in the form of gas vouchers or bus passes. In the event that a client is unable to drive or find a driver, attempts will be made to provide volunteers to transport clients.
