Currently, the agency has a Board of Directors and four full time staff persons. This includes the Executive Director, Peggy M. Garrett, Administrative Assistant/Reaching Out Breast Health Coordinator, Denise M. Hurt, and Education/Client Services Coordinator Cheryl L. Mathews and Mary A. Decker, Client Service Specialist.
Peggy M. Garrett, Executive Director. She comes from a background in development, fundraising and adult education. Peggy is a graduate of Ball State University receiving her Master of Arts degree in the field of Sociology and Adult Education in 1994. She also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology with Minors in Fine Arts and Women Studies. Peggy is committed to the mission of Cancer Services of Delaware County-Little Red Door in providing people-oriented services. Her hobbies are oil painting and gardening. Peggy's housemates are two ally cats names Miss Nibby and Tipper.
Denise M. Hurt, Administrative Assistant/Events Coordinator/"Reaching Out" Coordinator. Denise is a graduate from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in General Studies with minors in Computer Applications and Public Health. As Reaching Out Breast Health Coordinator, Denise enjoys her time spent with the women she reaches. "It's like sitting down talking with old friends". Being with the agency now for 3 years, many doors have opened for Denise. Denise has been Chairperson for the Muncie Black Expo Health Fair and now for the third consecutive year. Helping people has been a passion for her every since she was young. Denise enjoys singing, crocheting, cross stitching and hanging out with the youth at her church.
Cheryl L. Mathews, Education/Client Services Coordinator. Cheryl attended University of Florida and received a degree in nursing. After several years in the profession, she left nursing to stay home full time with her children. Today her interest is in health education. She enjoys working one on one with clients and providing educational programs for schools and community events. When not at work, Cheryl enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, reading and "playing in the garden."
Mary A. Decker, Client Specialist, graduated with honors from Indiana Business College with a degree in Medical Coding. "After working many years at various businesses, I feel I finally found the right job for me". Mary really enjoys being able to help people meet their needs and hopefully make them feel a little better. Her family definitely takes up the rest of her time. Being a Nana is the best part of her life.
